Atmosféra večera a noci, nehybnosť nočnej oblohy, zasnený obraz nočnej krajiny, či prechod človeka medzi bdením a snom, boli vždy fascinujúcou inšpiráciou pre umelcov. Svetom nocturna a hudobnou prechádzkou nočnou krajinou nás v rámci koncertu prevedú dvaja výnimoční umelci – slovenská sopranistka Simona Šaturová a český klavirista Marek Kozák. Simona Šaturová patrí k stáliciam opernej scény. Spolupracovala s viacerými významnými orchestrami a dirigentmi (Wiener Philharmoniker, Wiener Symphoniker, Bamberger Symphoniker a ď.) a pravidelne účinkuje na operných scénach vo Viedni, Drážďanoch či v Bruseli. Svoj hlas nedávno prepožičala herečke Barbare Ronchi vo výpravnom historickom filme Il Boemo o najslávnejšom českom opernom skladateľovi 18. storočia, Josefovi Myslivečkovi, ktorý bol ocenený šiestimi Českými levmi. Klavirista Marek Kozák je zase predstaviteľom nastupujúcej generácie mladých umelcov. S jeho menom sa spája výnimočná muzikalita, vynikajúca klavírna technika, zmysel pre proporciu a v neposlednom rade obdivuhodná pokora k notovému zápisu. Ich spoločný koncert na festivale Viva Musica! prinesie sugestívnu nočnú dramaturgiu: piesne Mozarta, Schuberta a Schumanna vystriedajú intímne zastavenia v čisto klavírnych podobách a nočná cestabude pokračovať k sneniu, hudobne stvárnenom výberom uspávaniek Antonína Dvořáka, či Karola Szymanowskeho. Koncert vyvrcholí štyrmi piesňami Richarda Straussa: Morgen(Ráno), Der Stern (Hviezda), Die Nacht (Noc) a Ständchen (Serenáda).

Simona Šaturová študovala na Konzervatóriu v Bratislave. Absolvovala majstrovské kurzy pod vedením Ileany Cotrubas vo Viedni a u Magreet Honnig v Amsterdame, s ktorou spolupracuje dodnes. Je stálou hosťkou Theátre de la Monnaie v Bruseli, kde okrem Violetty a Gildy stvárnila celý rad ďalších postáv – Ilia (Idomeneo), Sandrina (La finta giardiniera), Servilia (Titus), Ismena (Mitridate), Lucio Cinna (Lucio Silla), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) a Grófka (Figarova svadba). Pravidelne hosťuje v Národnom divadle v Prahe a často spolupracuje s Aalto-Musikstheater v Essene a s Oper Frankfurt. Predstavila sa aj v Theater an der Wien, Teatro Colón v Buenos Aires, Megaron Concert Hall v Aténach, v Théâtre du Châtelet v Paríži či v Opéra de Monte-Carlo. Koncertovala v Carnegie Hall s Philadelphia Orchestra, na Salzburger Festspiele, spolupracovala s Boston Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestera, Orchestre de Paris, s orchestrami Mníchovskej a Londýnskej filharmónie, s Orchestre des Champs-Elysées, či s Osaka Symphony. Začiatkom mája 2022 debutovala vo viedenskom Musikvereine s Viedenskými filharmonikmi pod taktovkou Herberta Blomstedta. Spolupracovala tiež s Christophom Eschenbachom, Manfredom Honeckom, Adamom Fischerom, Charlesom Dutoitom, Ivánom Fischerom, Jiřím Bělohlávkom, Christopherom Hogwoodom, Tomášom Netopilom či Philippom Herreweghom.

Meno klaviristu Marka Kozáka je často spájané s vynikajúcou technikou, zmyslom pre dynamiku,  obrovskou muzikalitou a hlbokou pokorou pred notovým zápisom. Na koncertné pódiá vnáša noblesnú interpretačnú kultúru a poslucháčov si podmaňuje schopnosťou interpretovať bez okázalých gest to, čo chcel skladateľ vo svojej hudbe vyjadriť. Marek Kozák je laureátom medzinárodnej klavírnej súťaže Géza Andy v Zürichu, finalistom Busoniho súťaže v Bolzane, laureátom Európskej klavírnej súťaže v Brémach, kde zároveň získal cenu publika. Na súťaži v rámci Pražskej jari v roku 2016 získal 2. miesto a cenu za uvedenie súčasnej skladby Kejklíř od skladateľa Adama Skoumala. Rok predtým bol semifinalistom Medzinárodnej klavírnej súťaže Fryderyka Chopina vo Varšave. Pravidelne spolupracuje s poprednými českými a zahraničnými orchestrami. Účinkoval v rámci Medzinárodného hudobného festivalu Leoša Janáčka v Ostrave, festivalov Smetanova Litomyšl, Dvořákova Praha, Svatováclavský hudobný festival, Medzinárodný hudobný festival R. Firkušného či v rámci Komorného cyklu v Slovenskej filharmónii. Marek Kozák je absolventom HAMU v Prahe, kde študoval pod vedením Ivana Klánského. Momentálne pedagogicky pôsobí na Gymnáziu a hudobnej škole hlavného mesta Prahy. V roku 2018 vydal svoje prvé profilové CD so skladbami Josepha Haydna, Fryderyka Chopina, Césara Francka, Sergeja Rachmaninova a Adama Skoumala.

Atmosphere of evening and night, the night sky’s immobility, dreamlike image of the nocturnal landscape, and the human passage between waking and dreaming: these have always been fascinating to artists, and inspiring. Two exceptional artists in concert will lead us through the world of the nocturne and a musical passage through the night landscape: the Slovak soprano Simona Šaturová and the Czech pianist Marek Kozák. Simona Šaturová is one of the fixed stars of the opera scene. She has partnered many prominent orchestras and conductors (Wiener Philharmoniker, Wiener Symphoniker, Bamberger Symphoniker etc.) and regularly performs on opera stages in Vienna, Dresden, and Brussels. Recently she lent her voice to Italian actress Barbara Ronchi in the epic historical film Il Boemo (about the most famous Czech opera composer of the 18th century, Josef Mysliveček), which was awarded six Czech Lions. The pianist Marek Kozák, for his part, is a representative of the up-and-coming generation of young artists. His name is associated with an exceptional musical sense, outstanding piano technique, a sense of proportion, and last but not least, an admirable humility vis-à-vis the written score. The joint concert of these two artists at Viva Musica! festival will present a stimulating nocturnal dramaturgy: songs by Mozart, Schubert and Schumann will alternate with intimate endings in pure piano forms. “The Night Journey” will continue to dreamland, with a musically forged selection of lullabies by Antonín Dvořák, and Karol Szymanowski, culminating in four songs by Richard Strauss: Morgen (Morning), Der Stern (Star), Die Nacht (Night), and Ständchen (Serenade).

Simona Šaturová studied at the Conservatory in Bratislava and later she participated in masterclasses with Ileana Cotrubas in Vienna and with Magreet Honning in Amsterdam with whom she continues to work until this day. Simona is frequent guest at the Théatre de la Monnaie in Brussels. Besides roles of Violetta and Gilda she sung roles such as Ilia (Idomeneo), Sandrina (La finta giardiniera), Servilia (Titus), Ismena (Mitridate), Lucio Cinna (Lucio Silla), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Countess (The Marriage of Figaro). She is also a frequent guest at the National Theater in Prague. She collaborates with Aalto-Musikstheater in Essen and Oper Frankfurt. She performed in Theater an der Wien, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Megaron Concert Hall in Athens, Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, and Opéra de Monte-Carlo. She has performed recitals in Carnegie Hall with Philadelphia Orchestra, Salzburg Festspiele, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Munich Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Orchestre des Champs-Elysées, Osaka Symphony among others. In May 2022 she had her debut in Musikverein with Wiener Philharmoniker under the baton of Herbert Blomstedt. Simona Šaturová has collaborated with conductors such as Christoph Eschenbach, Manfred Honeck, Adam Fischer, Charles Dutoit, Iván Fischer, Jiří Bělohlávek, Christopher Hogwood, Tomáš Netopil, or Philippe Herreweghe.

At the age of twenty-nine, the piano virtuoso Marek Kozák has achieved a series of impressive results in a wide range of prestigious competitions. His most recent honour in 2021 is the laureate title in the highly demanding Councours Géza Anda Zürich. In 2015, Marek was a semi-finalist in one of the world leading contest, the Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw. The following year, he gained second prize at the Prague Spring International Music Competition and special award for his performance of the contemporary composition The Jongleur by Adam Skoumal. In 2018, he won both first prize and the Audience prize at the European Piano Competition in Bremen. Last year he was a finalist at the Busoni competition in Bolzano. Critics consistently praise his flawless technique, sense of proportion and gradation, wide range of expression, deep musicality, and faithfulness to musical notation. Since graduating from the piano class of Ivan Klánský at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Kozák has certainly made a splash on the Czech classical music scene. In February 2020, his first performance with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra caused a stir when he played the little-known Piano Concerto in D minor by Vítězslava Kaprálová. In the 2022/2023 season, next to giving numerous recitals at the Rudolfinum in Prague, Switzerland, and Germany, he performed the piano concertos by Karel Kovařovic, Robert Schumann, and Richard Strauss's Burlesque among others. He also performed The Well-Tempered Clavier I at the IMF Smetanova Litomyšl in June 2023. Marek Kozák was already showing extraordinary talent when attending the Elementary Art School in Brušperk. He soon demonstrated further skills as an organist and composer. He studied two instruments at the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava – the piano with Monika Tugendliebová and the organ with Martina Zelová. He attended numerous masterclasses led by world-famous virtuosos, such as Eugen Indjic, Murray Parahia and Garrick Ohlsson. In 2018, he released his first signature CD with the works of Haydn, Chopin, Franck, Rachmaninof and Skoumal. Currently he is working on a release of an album with Czech piano concertos. In addition to concert activities, Marek teaches at the Prague Music High School.
