Indi Stivín & Collegium Stivinum

Double bass virtuoso, conductor and composer, Indi Stivín is currently one of the most striking talents among the younger generation of Czech musicians. This versatile artist completed the study of double bass playing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, and he is a prize-winner at several international competitions (International Performance Competition in Markneukirchen, Anton Rubinstein International Competition in Düsseldorf, Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf International Double Bass Competition in Banská Bystrica, Viktor Dijon de Monteton Award). As soloist, he has appeared with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, State Philharmonic Košice, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, among others. During the years 2019-21 he was a member of the Giuseppe Sinopoli Academy of Staatskapelle Dresden. An early success, which we may regard as important for his artistic career, saw him appearing at the age of 16-year as the first double bassist with a solo recital at the Prague Spring International Festival. Indi Stivín is also a successful composer and a holder of the annual OSA Prize for the most successful Czech music composer under 30. This talented artist will appear before the Bratislava public together with his Collegium Stivinum ensemble, which under his direction concentrates on performing pieces for solo double bass and orchestra. The concert in the Grassalkovich Garden will feature compositions for double bass and orchestra by Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf and Henry Eccles, and also by Indi Stivín himself.
