Janko Kráľ Park
Percussion Collective
Featuring in a concert in Janko Kráľ Park will be Percussion Collective, formed by a trio of Slovak percussionists: Adam Druga, Peter Solárik and Martin Zajac. Adam Druga is a representative of the youngest generation of percussionists in Slovakia. He studied at the Conservatory in Banská Bystrica and at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno. Since 2023 he has played in the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, and he regularly makes guest appearances in orchestral bodies at home and in the Czech Republic. Peter Solárik is an established percussion player and teacher, who is sought-after especially for his multi-genre flexibility. He is a founder and member of the jazz ensemble Nothing But Swing Trio, the ethno-jazz grouping Bashavel, and the percussion duo mp.2. Peter Solárik collaborates with leading figures in the Slovak and foreign music scene, among them Juraj Bartoš, Matúš Jakabčic, Peter Lipa, Scott Hamilton, Benny Golson and Gábor Bolla. Martin Zajac is another representative of the youngest generation of percussionists, and currently he is a student at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica. He is a regular guest at the State Philharmonic Košice and the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. Apart from solo playing, he also performs in a number of chamber groupings (AKU Percussion Group, Party Diddles, Slovak Nuevo Quinteto). Together in concert, the Percussion Collective trio will present works by Trevino, Koshinski, Živkovič, Peck and Martynciow.
