Viva Fallgrapp!

Fallgrapp is an artistic project by the musician and producer Jureš Líška, who achieves an attractive blending of electronics with acoustic instruments, a string trio, and the vocals of the singer Nora Ibsenová. Layered arrangements, links with other forms of art, interesting collaborations, emphasis on the visual, and an inimitable atmosphere at concerts: this is the combination that gives Fallgrapp its place among the most noteworthy projects in Slovakia. The ensemble has to its credit three studio albums (Rieka (River, 2014), V hmle (In the Mist, 2017) and Ostrov (Island, 2020)) and a number of awards, including a Radio-Head Award and a Tatra Bank Prize for Art (for Jureš Líška’s original music to the ballet miniature BezsLovE for the Slovak National Theatre). Currently Fallgrapp is completing its new album, whose release is planned for the autumn of this year. “It is somewhat symbolic, because ten years have gone by since the issue of our first album. We want to show the greatest possible cross-section of our work. In combination with the chamber orchestra there will be a fuller sound, but we also want to show that our songs in the new arrangements can function beautifully, even if only in a minimal space,” Jureš Líška explained. The concert will feature a selection of the best, as well as songs from the new album in new arrangements by Andrea Kružliaková, Haimoni Balgavá and Martin Majlo Štefánik with accompaniment by the Spectrum Orchestra, led by the violinist Ján Kružliak Jr. The opening concert of the milestone 20th annual Viva Musica! festival will be held in the Old Market Hall, to which the festival is returning once again after a three-year interval.
