Both artists are rooted in classical music – they are accomplished pianists and composers – yet they find the traditional classical space limiting.

As part of this year’s Music Gardens concert series, two exceptional young Slovak musicians – Haimoni Balgavá and Kristína Smetanová – will take the stage. Haimoni studied composition at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno and at the Conservatorio Superior de Música in Valencia, while Kristína studied piano at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. Both artists are rooted in classical music – they are accomplished pianists and composers – yet they find the traditional classical space limiting. Exploring new territories, they collaborate across genres (Plantasia, Quatro Emocione among others), unafraid to experiment and push musical boundaries.

At the Viva Musica! festival, they will appear as a piano duo. Alongside selections from the classical four-hands piano repertoire, they will present their own original compositions inspired by nature. “We’ll take you into the world of mountains. For us, they are not only a place of rest, but a source of deep inspiration. Our program blends works by world composers with our own music that grows directly from nature,” say Haimoni and Kristína.

Admission is free.
