The Eugen Suchoň Masterclass Series
July 26 – August 1, 2026, Eugen Suchoň Elementary Art School, Pezinok
For the second year, the international vocal masterclasses dedicated to the distinguished Slovak composer, pedagogue, and Pezinok native Eugen Suchoň are part of the Viva Musica! festival. This intensive week-long educational programme is designed for singers from a variety of musical genres, including opera, jazz, musical theatre, chanson, rock, and pop.
The masterclasses will be led by outstanding singers and teachers: Jana Kurucová (opera singing), Adriana Kučerová (opera singing), Kristína Mihaľová (jazz and improvisation), and Eva Banči (rock, pop, chanson, musical theatre). Individual lessons focusing on the development of vocal technique will be complemented by group workshops addressing broader aspects of the singing profession and the challenges of building a career today. The programme will also include final concerts by the active participants as well as an informal accompanying programme.

Requirements for Active Participation
– minimum age: 15 years
– submission of repertoire for the masterclass
– submission of at least one reference recording in the form of a video sample (online link)
– submission of a short applicant profile
– payment of the participation fee
Applicants interested in active participation must register via the application form. The number of active participants is limited.
In case the number of applications exceeds the course capacity, the organizers reserve the right to select the active participants.

Jana Kurucová
opera (mezzosoprano)
A soloist of the Hamburg State Opera, a mezzo-soprano with a broad repertoire and an extensive international career, recognized as one of the most prominent Slovak artists on the world opera stage.
Adriana Kučerová
opera (soprano)
She has gained international recognition and audience acclaim thanks to her radiant voice, compelling stage presence, and natural charisma. She has collaborated with leading conductors and orchestras around the world.
Kristína Mihaľová
jazz & improvisation
A singer with a distinctive voice and one of the most prominent figures on the Slovak music scene. With her original project Lash&Grey, she has performed on international stages, including Carnegie Hall in New York.
Eva Banči
rock, pop, chanson & musical theatre
One of the most respected and sought-after vocal teachers and coaches with long-standing experience, also known for her collaborations with theaters in Bratislava and Nitra.
The application deadline for active participation is June 15, 2026 (inclusive). Selected participants will be notified by phone or email no later than June 30, 2026.
Participation Fee: €350
– 5x masterclass sessions

Note: Accommodation is not included in the participation fee. Recommendations for accommodation in Pezinok will be provided soon.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I don’t have enough experience or don’t feel good enough?
Don’t worry about signing up! The masterclasses are open to anyone who wants to improve their singing – regardless of current level. Our lecturers work individually with each participant, and together you’ll set the pace and plan that suits you.
What if I’m not available on one of the days?
That’s absolutely fine. We can adjust the schedule as needed and make individual arrangements with the lecturers.
Will the lessons take place in front of an audience?
No, passive audience participation is only possible with your consent and prior agreement.
If I register with one lecturer, can I also try a lesson with someone else?
Yes, that’s possible! We can adapt the schedule based on your preferences and the availability of the lecturers.
What if I don’t manage to send the recording by the deadline?
If you can’t prepare the recording in time, go ahead and submit your application anyway. We’ll get in touch later and ask you to send the recording when you’re ready.
I’m over 30 years old – can I still apply?
The masterclasses are open to participants aged 15 and over. There is no upper age limit.
What can I expect besides the lessons themselves?
In addition to the lessons, you can look forward to a varied accompanying program in a beautiful setting, organized by our team 🙂
