Mirror Hall of the Primate's Palace
KamBrass Quintet
Change of venue! Due to the forecast of rain in the afternoon and evening, today’s concert will take place in the Mirror Hall of the Primate’s Palace. Admission is free until the hall’s capacity is filled. Thank you for your understanding.
The wind ensemble KamBrass Quintet is a wonderful example of what top-ranking musicians can do, when their limitless curiosity about brass wind instruments combines with their irrepressible passion for chamber music. This grouping, which was founded in 2017 in Spain and consists of Guillem Cardona Zaera (trumpet), Joan Pàmies Magrané (trumpet), Maria Servera Monserrat (French horn), Xavier Gil Batet (trombone) and Oriol Reverter Curto (tuba), can boast of several noteworthy successes. KamBrass Quintet is the holder of 2nd Prize at the Philip Jones International Brass Ensemble Competition in Birmingham, 1st Prize at the Philip Jones Brass Competition in Lucerne, 2nd Prize at the Antón García Abril International Music Chamber Competition in Granada, and the American Brass Quintet Prize (USA), awarded in 2021. The ensemble has performed at many prestigious events, including Lucerne Festival, Swiss Chamber Music Festival Adelboden, Davos Music Festival, Hohenloher Kultursommer, among others. In building its repertoire, KamBrass Quintet concentrates especially on performance of new works for this instrumental grouping, along with original arrangements of other works. They will bring their invigorating dramaturgy to Bratislava with the title “Does it suit(e)?”, leading us into the world of the dance suite and its multifarious treatment across the centuries. Music by John Dowland and Johann Sebastian Bach will open the concert, followed by works of composers not often performed in Slovakia, André Lafosse, Enrico Granados and Isaac Albeníz. The concluding part of this event will be reserved for the spirit of dance, as rendered by Leonard Bernstein and the Latin American composer Enrique Crespo.
