Viva Musica! Prague – Janoska Ensemble
Vivaldi: Four Seasons in Janoska Style
The Janoska Ensemble is among the most original European music groups of today. Their signature “Janoska Style” naturally blends classical music, jazz, and improvisation into a unique, energetic, and virtuosic whole. The ensemble consists of three brothers from Bratislava – violinists Ondrej and Roman, and pianist František Jánoška – together with their brother-in-law, double bassist Julius Darvas. They perform worldwide, collaborate with renowned artists and orchestras, record exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon, and continue a deep family tradition of music-making. The Janoska Ensemble is synonymous with brilliant virtuosity, spontaneous musical imagination, and an intense live experience that appeals even to the most demanding audiences.
They will perform in Prague for the first time, presenting their latest album – Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons in their distinctive Janoska style (2024, Deutsche Grammophon). “The Four Seasons is one of the iconic works of music history, and we decided to bring it into the 21st century in the spirit of our ‘Janoska Style.’ On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of its publication, we created our own arrangement incorporating elements of improvisation and our musical language. We will present this program in Prague for the first time. It will be a special evening for us – both musically and personally,” said the members of the Janoska Ensemble.
The concert will take place on July 21, 2026, in the beautiful setting of Smetana Hall at the Municipal House as part of the international festival Viva Musica!, one of the largest and most attended classical music events in Slovakia. The festival takes place at various venues in Bratislava and the Bratislava region, and this year it will be presented in Prague for the first time. Since its founding in 2005, Viva Musica! has been known for exclusive musical projects, unique artistic collaborations, unconventional concert formats, premieres, and performances in unusual venues. The Janoska Ensemble concert will serve as this year’s Viva Musica! Prague festival prologue, with the ambition of developing the festival in the city in the future.
