Plantasia

Manor Park Stupava 19:00
Free entry
At this concert in the newly renovated Manor Park in Stupava, we will present music from the cult album Mother Earth’s Plantasia by Canadian composer, arranger, and electronic music pioneer Mort Garson (1924–2008), composed especially for plants to “listen to.”

Although the album had only very limited distribution upon its release and did not achieve widespread popularity at the time, today it is regarded as a cult classic and one of the first electronic music albums created entirely using the Moog synthesizer. Pianists and composers Kristína Smetanová and Haimoni Balgavá transcribed the entire album into a score for four synthesizer players and, together with Peter Kunzo and Martin Štefánik, will perform Plantasia live twice at this year’s Viva Musica! festival.

Plantasia brought us together and at the same time inspired us to create original music thematically connected to Mort Garson’s iconic recording. At Viva Musica! festival, audiences will also hear several pieces from the upcoming debut album by Plantasia Project,” said Kristína. In keeping with the album’s original concept of having a positive effect on plants, the quartet expanded the original musical material with newly composed works of their own.

The concert is part of the Picnic in the Park event organised by the Bratislava Region Tourism Organisation.

Admission to the event is free.
