Viva Musica! Festival Enters Its 21st Season
The first artists announced for this year’s edition are the phenomenal Janoska Ensemble and the renowned Estonian vocal group Vox Clamantis.

Bratislava, April 10, 2025

The internationally acclaimed Viva Musica! festival returns from June 19 to August 8, 2025, offering a series of outstanding concerts, including several Slovak premieres.

The opening night will belong to the globally celebrated Janoska Ensemble, who will perform the Slovak premiere of their project The Four Seasons à la Janoska in collaboration with the Viva Musica! Orchestra. Antonio Vivaldi’s iconic cycle of violin concertos is beloved by classical music fans the world over. This year marks the 300th anniversary of its first printed edition. While the work has inspired countless interpretations, the Janoska Ensemble brings one of the most imaginative and genre-defying renditions to date. On their fourth album released by Deutsche Grammophon, they seamlessly blend Vivaldi’s musical legacy with their hallmark improvisation and stylistic diversity.

The Four Seasons is a cornerstone of music history. We've reimagined it for the 21st century in our signature 'Janoska Style.' We’re especially excited to present it to our home audience for the very first time. The collaboration with the orchestra brings an entirely new spectrum of expression, color, and energy. It promises to be a truly memorable evening—both musically and emotionally,” say members of the Janoska Ensemble.

Comprising brothers Ondrej, Roman, and František Janoska, along with their brother-in-law, double bassist Julius Darvas, the Janoska Ensemble has captivated audiences worldwide with their dazzling virtuosity, infectious passion, and unique charm. Their musical philosophy, deeply rooted in improvisation, honors tradition while remaining contemporary and full of life. Their performance of The Four Seasons à la Janoska will take place on June 19, 2025, at 8:00 PM at Bratislava’s Old Market Hall. The guest of the concert will be the eldest of the four Janoska brothers, Arpád Janoska.

A Meditative Tribute to Arvo Pärt

The Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Vox Clamantis, one of the most distinguished groups on the international choral scene, will perform on June 26, 2025, at 8:30 PM in the Large Lutheran Church in Bratislava. Their concert, Arvo Pärt 90, will honor the 90th birthday of the world-renowned Estonian composer.

Founded in 1996, Vox Clamantis was born out of a shared passion for Gregorian chant. In addition to chant—which lies at the very foundation of European professional music—the ensemble also focuses on early polyphony and contemporary music.

The program of our concert is dedicated to the jubilee year of our dear friend, composer Arvo Pärt. We will perform works composed over several decades, including the vocal version of Silouan’s Song, originally written for string orchestra in 1991. In addition to Arvo Pärt’s compositions, the concert will include Gregorian chant, which was a key source of inspiration for thim, as well as works by American composer David Lang, for whom Pärt has been an important artistic influence,” explains conductor Jaan-Eik Tulve.

Vox Clamantis collaborates with the prestigious ECM Records label, and their recordings have appeared in works such as Paolo Sorrentino’s Oscar-winning film The Great Beauty (2013). Their concert at the Viva Musica! festival will offer a space for quiet reflection and a deeply moving artistic experience that speaks to both soul and mind.

See you at Viva Musica! festival

The festival would not be possible without the continued support of partners who have long supported the development of culture and the arts in Slovakia. “We are delighted to once again be a partner of the Viva Musica! festival, which brings world-class classical music and unique artistic experiences to Bratislava. Supporting culture and the arts is something we consider vitally important. We believe this event will enrich the lives of many and bring the beauty of classical music closer to the wider public,” said Michal Liday, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Tatra banka and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tatra banka Foundation, the festival’s general partner.

This mission is reflected in the programming of this year’s edition, which will once again present a diverse program featuring top artists, including concerts in gardens and parks, as well as the popular #NextGeneration series.
